This paper discusses ways to incorporate forest-assisted migration (FAM) as an integral tool for management to reduce long-term risks to ecosystem function. This paper highlights three case studies of operational-scale FAM from the eastern U.S., addresses barriers to acceptance, and explores the integration of FAM within an adaptation framework.
