The National Urban Forest Technology and Science Delivery Team highlighted the MNRRA Affiliate ASCC Site in The Cross-Pollinator – “Planting for the Future: Managing Urban Forests for Climate Change.” This USDA Forest Service publication demonstrates how the MNRRA ASCC team and partners are helping urban natural areas in Saint Paul and along the Mississippi River adapt to a changing climate.
The MNRRA Affiliate ASCC site is bringing concepts from silviculture and testing them in in the middle of Saint Paul. As Dr. Marcella Windmuller-Campione says in the paper, "all the people in the park will be able to view forestry and silviculture at work, and it’s likely to change how they think about forestry and climate change resilience and adaptation. It doesn’t just happen way off in the woods, it’s in our backyards. If people see the benefit for people and the environment, that’s huge,” (Cooke 2021, p. 5).
